Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is getting closer and closer to peak physical condition and is set to finally make his return to a matchday squad against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 29-year-old is going full speed ahead in training and should be fit enough to appear from the bench in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

Lukaku made his return to full training over the second half of last week.

The indications were positive as the Belgian split his time between working with the rest of the squad and individual training, but he was not quite ready to be called up for Saturday’s match against Fiorentina.

However, the striker has been further improving in condition, having used yesterday to train alongside the squad members who did not play against Fiorentina.

Lukaku is not only no longer injured but also getting close to full physical fitness.

Accordingly, the Belgian should be able to play during the second half of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Plzen.
