Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi expects that both striker Romelu Lukaku and midfielder Roberto Gagliardini will be part of the squad to face Viktoria Plzen tomorrow.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the coach stated that the pair will be called up for the Champions League group stage clash, whilst Marcelo Brozovic still has a bit to go in his recovery.
Lukaku has been out for almost two months recovering from a thigh injury, whilst Gagliardini has missed the past couple matches with a problem to his lower back.
However, both of the pair are now training normally with the rest of the team.
Accordingly, the coach expects that he will have both of the pair available to him for tomorrow’s match.
“Lukaku and Gagliardini will be back in the squad if training goes as it did yesterday,” Inzaghi updated.
He continued that “For Brozovic there are still a few days left, we’ll see if we can get him back as soon as we can, the same goes for Lukaku.”
“He’s training twice a day to get back in the shortest amount of time possible,” he said of the Croat.
Of the team’s Champions League group stage campaign, the coach said that “We knew on the day of the draw that we hadn’t gotten very lucky, but we could have a chance with the weapons that we have.”
“For now we haven’t actually done anything,” Inzaghi emphasized, “tomorrow we have a great opportunity playing in front of our fans, but we know that we face a team who are dominating in their own league and will come to the San Siro to cause us problems.”
Asked if there’s a risk of his team underestimating tomorrow’s match, the coach replied “Absolutely not, last season we had a similar situation with Shakhtar and we were able to get the job done.”
“This season it’s the same situation, and we must take advantage of the opportunity because it will be very important to win tomorrow, it would mean hitting our first objective of the season and we hope that we can do it.”
