Inter striker Romelu Lukaku’s return to the starting lineup could have his team feeling like they’re going into matches a goal ahead compared to when they play without him.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who argue that the 29-year-old’s effect is massive compared to when the team have to cope for his absence.

Inter have not exactly struggled for goals in Lukaku’s absence, with the recent form of Lautaro Martinez, the reliability of Edin Dzeko, and potency overall team game being sufficient to guarantee a supply of goals.

However, given the streaky form of Martinez among other factors, there are still doubts about Inter’s ability to really unlock matches when their attacking Plan A isn’t working.

In the form of Lukaku, the Nerazzurri will finally have a player back who, across his first spell at the club, came close to a goal or assist per game across all competitions.

The approach and mood of the team will be affected massively if they can get the Belgian back at his best.
