AC Milan’s intention remains to stick to the plan of building a new stadium in the San Siro, although plans could change if this proves to be too difficult.

This according to Rossoneri President, who addressed the club’s annual shareholders meeting, as reported by FCInterNews.

Inter and Milan have been aiming to build a new stadium in place of the San Siro for some time, although the clubs have faced some bureaucratic hurdles along the way.

One of the major ones has been the need for a public debate before construction can begin.

This debate is now officially underway.

A positive outcome from the public debate would be a big landmark for the clubs, although Scaroni made clear that alternative plans such as building elsewhere or Milan building on their own can’t be ruled out.

“The public debate is underway,” the Rossoneri President said, “which is a procedure that is rarely applied and is used for projects that are carried out on public land and with investments over €300 million.”

He continued that “It seems to me that it’s proceeding quite well, there are some observations being made by the residents.”

“I hope that we will have an answer by early November, and I hope that this process will help to simplify the appeals to the TAR, and that the judge will look at them in a more positive light.”

“If we build in the San Siro area it will be with Inter, because they would not allow the use of the space to just us,” he explained of building jointly with the Nerazzurri.

Scaroni comntinued that “I don’t feel Inter’s financial difficulties affect the San Siro issue.”

“An investment of this kind is fundamental for creating value for any club.”

The Milan president said that “Let’s go forward assuming that if we have the authorization for using the San Siro area, we will build it together with them.”

“At the same time, we’re also working on other possibilities, which could include building on our own without them,” he added.
