Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni is happy with the way that this evening went for the team, between reaching the Champions League round of sixteen and having Romelu Lukaku back on the pitch.
Speaking to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Viktoria Plzen, the 23-year-old gave his immediate reaction.
Inter’s night could not have gone much better as they hosted Plzen at the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri knew that with three points from the match they would be able to absolutely secure a place in the knockouts of Europe’s top competition.
That is exactly what they got on the night.
Bastoni did brilliantly to assist Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the opening goal before an Edin Dzeko sealed the result.
A fairytale goal for the returning Lukaku made sure that it was the perfect evening.
“We knew that this would be an important but also difficult match,” Bastoni said.
“We did well with our approach,” he continued, “and to unlock the match, after which everything became easier.”
“We’re very happy to have gotten Romelu back after such a long time out.”
