Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that the team are confident in their quality and in what they are capable of achieving this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after this evening’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Viktoria Plzen, the 23-year-old gave his reaction to the match, and also spoke about what the return of striker Romelu Lukaku from injury means to the team.

Inter got a massive result in the context of their season by guaranteeing their place in the Champions League round of sixteen.

Four points against Barcelona over the past few weeks had gone a long way towards booking this spot, but the job was not yet done.

However, Bastoni and his teammates made it look easy to get the three points that they needed against a Plzen side who showed no lack of motivation.

Now, Inter go on in the league as well as in the Champions League, and based on what they showed against Plzen, they can have plenty of confidence.

“We knew that it could be difficult,” the 23-year-old said, “but we immediately got things off to the right start by unlocking the match.”

“We’re happy,” he added. “We’re aware of our strength.”

Bastoni noted that “We have help each other to achieve the top goals.”

“We ‘re happy to have Lukaku back,” he added.
