Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the team need to keep up the momentum with more wins, and perhaps more comfortable ones that their 4-3 thriller against Fiorentina over the weekend.

Speaking to Amazon Prime ahead of today’s Champions League clash with Viktoria Plzen, the Armenian looked back on Saturday’s match, and also expressed the hope that the Nerazzurri will be improved by the presence of Marcelo Brozovic in the team.

Inter have now managed to win their last three matches in Serie A, and the only match out of the Nerazzurri’s last five that wasn’t a victory was a vital draw away to Barcelona.

However, the manner of the team’s last win, leaving it until the last minute away to Fiorentina, can hardly be replicated every time.

For Mkhitaryan, the key thing is to not be complacent and continue to improve so that the wins get easier.

Speaking about his last-minute winner against La Viola, his first goal in a Nerazzurri shirt, the Armenian said that “It was a very emotional moment that will remain in my memory.”

“I felt that I just had to go for it even when I saw that Barella’s ball wasn’t quite perfect.”

“I scored and now I think that we can keep winning matches, though hopefully not always in the last minute, we have to do it before then,” he continued.

“We have to take this spirit and prepare to face Viktoria Plzen in the best way possible.”

Mkhitaryan called injured midfielder Brozovic “A significant absence, we’ve done everything we can to play without him.”

“We’ve started winning again, and with him back in the team we should be able to do so even more.”

“We’re waitingto have him back, he’s fundamental to the team,” he said of the Croat.

“We all get along very well with our teammates, we all fight for the same goal and we want to win all the matches.”

Asked if there’s any anxiety ahead of this evening’s group stage match against Plzen, Mkhitaryan replied “No, we’re experienced players and we know how to play.”

“We’ll go out onto the pitch at 100% to try and win this match.”
