Inter striker Edin Dzeko feels that he is always working to give his best for the team above all.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League, the 36-year-old also stated that he is not overly preoccupied with whether or not he’ll be offered a new deal past the end of the season.
Dzeko showed his value to the Nerazzurri with a brace for two of their four in an emphatic victory over the Czech champions.
More important than the Bosnian’s individual exploits, however, was the result for the team.
Dzeko and his teammates have reached the knockout rounds of Europe’s top competition for the second season in a row.
The former Roma, Manchester City, and Wolfsburg striker is just focused on trying to help the team get the best out of the current season for the time being.
Of the match against Plzen, Dzeko said that “Apart from the first 10-15 minutes, I think we did well.”
“I do what I have to do for the team,” he continued, “it’s my duty.”
The striker reflected that “Sometimes you do better, sometimes less well, but I always try to give my best even at age 36.”
He noted that “On Mkhitaryan’s goal, I ducked out of the way because I heard a shout for the ball.”
He recalled that “I thought it was from Dumfries, I hadn’t expected him to be in that position.”
And of the fact that his current Nerazzurri contract is set to run out at the end of the season, Dzeko said that “I’m not thinking about it, the season is currently underway.”
“I feel good and I know I can still play at this level, everything follows from that,” the Bosnian said.
