Inter wingback Federico Dimarco expects that this evening’s Champions League clash with Viktoria Plzen will have the significance of a final for the Nerazzurri players.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset ahead of the match, the 24-year-old gave his thoughts on the importance of the match, which could see the Nerazzurri secure progression to the Champions League knockout rounds.

Inter will not have an easy match against Plzen despite the differences between the two teams on paper.

If the Nerazzurri can take three points, however, the ramifications for their season will be massive.

Inter have already done a great deal of work to reach this position, and will now be hoping that they can make good on it by winning and reaching the round of sixteen.

This will be a match where the possibilities at stake could define the rest of the Nerazzurri’s season, and Dimarco expects to approach it as such.

“Tonight will be like a final for us,” the 24-year-old said.

“We have to go all the way and do something that many people thought we couldn’t at the start of the season.
