Inter President Steven Zhang has awarded a bonus of €2 million to the Nerazzurri squad as a reward for reaching the Champions League knockout stages.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri President has decided to make the bonus available from the budget considering the players efforts to qualify from the “group of death.”

Zhang watched his team secure a major milestone at the San Siro yesterday evening.

Despite having widely been expected to struggle in a group containing the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the Nerazzurri have reached the knockouts with a game to spare for the second season running.

Zhang was very proud of what he saw, and felt that the accomplishment deserved a reward.

The efforts of the players went beyond what has been expected, with the club hardly taking qualification for granted especially from such a difficult group.

Accordingly, the squad will receive a bonus worth €2 million for their efforts.
