Inter striker Edin Dzeko feels that the return of Romelu Lukaku from injury will add something important to the team.
Speaking to InterTV, the 36-year-old spoke highly of the Belgian, and noted the importance of having everyone available given the challenges of the season.
Lukaku finally made his long-awaited return from injury in Inter’s Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen yesterday.
It had been a long and difficult recovery process for the Belgian.
However, the 29-year-old showed that he has not lost any of his edge during his absence, whilst the hunger was clearly evident as he capped off a bright cameo performance with a very well-taken goal.
Dzeko is very happy to have Lukaku back, and feels that his return to the team will be very significant in their competitive ambitions during the rest of the season.
“We are pleased to have him back,” he said of the Belgian, “he will certainly be important for us in these last few matches before the World Cup.”
“We hope to get as many points as we can now that we have everyone back except for Brozovic, who is still injured.”
The Boasnian reflected on the qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds, stating that “We’ve reached an important milestone with a match to spare.”
“We knew right from the first minute what we had to do today, and apart from the first ten or fifteen minutes we did well.”
Asked how he thought he played, Dzeko said that “I always seem to score a lot of goals against them, I guess I like having them as an opponent.”
“Today I think that the whole team did what it had to do, we prepared well for the match, getting to the next round with a game to spare is an extraordinary accomplishment and we deserved it.”
Dzeko explained that “It’s important to get a lot of players into the penaltya area, Mkhi did well, we’re pleased when the midfielders and defenders score.”
“We hope to continue playing like this because we feel happy.”
