Inter striker Lautaro Martinez looked to have been very slightly offside for his assist on Edin Dzeko’s goal for the Nerazzurri’s third against Viktoria Plzen, although this was not the ruling of the officials.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who note the possible offside of the 24-year-old as the one possible error by match official Andreas Ekberg.

Martinez did well to assist Dzeko for Inter’s third goal against Plzen during the second half of yesterday’s match.

There was some doubt about the Argentine’s position at the time that he received the pass from Nicolo Barella, however.

The goal was checked by VAR, which determined through a semi-automatic check that Martinez was onside, although the Corriere suggests that it was extremely tight and his shoulder looked offside visually.

Meanwhile, the Corriere also notes that a challenge by Plzen midfielder Pavel Bucha on Inter’s Federico Dimarco could have been deemed to be a foul, although this was not the decision of the officials, who ruled that it was borderline.
