Inter striker Edin Dzeko could have his contract extended if his form keeps up as it has so far this season.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 36-year-old’s performances have been making a case that he would deserve to stay on past the end of the campaign.
Dzeko has perhaps played more than he’d have ever expected over the first two and a half months of the campaign.
An unexpected injury to Romelu Lukaku has meant that Inter have been shorthanded in attack at times, and so the Bosnian has featured regularly, both from the start and from the bench.
Dzeko’s performances have shown exactly why the club put their faith in him to stay on as Lukaku’s deputy during the summer.
The Bosnian has led the line well with his strength, technical ability, and intelligence.
And apart from these contributions to the team’s overall game, the former Roma striker has certainly shown that just because he is 36 years old, it does not mean that he cannot continue to be decisive in front of goal.
As such, Dzeko is giving Inter a real decision to make.
The Nerazzurri may or may not decide to extend the Bosnian’s contract, which at present expires at the end of June 2023, but if they expect to keep getting this version of him, they could certainly be convinced to do so.
