Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi now has three top-level strikers at his disposal in the form of Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, and Edin Dzeko.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who argue that the form of the latter two so far in the season means that Inzaghi has a real wealth of options to choose from in attack.
Lukaku’s return from injury is a real breath of fresh air for Inter.
The Belgian showed the Nerazzurri exactly what they’d been missing for two months with his impressive cameo appearance and goal against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.
However, in truth it is not as though Inter had been struggling in attack in Lukaku’s absence.
Martinez had stepped up into the role of attacking talisman in the meantime, and whilst the 25-year-old endured a tough goal drought during the period, he has emerged on the other side of it looking lethal in front of goal.
Meanwhile, Dzeko has shown that despite his advancing years, he is both capable of leading the line with his holdup play and popping up with hugely important goals as ever.
Accordingly, Inzaghi will have exactly the kind of problem that he wants to have selecting between the trio on a match-to-match basis, and the opportunity to rest each of the three and not overuse them.
Meanwhile, Joaquin Correa has continued to struggle for form and consistency, and could struggle to convince the coach over the other three senior forwards.
Nevertheless, even he could very well find form and give Inzaghi even more of a selection dilemma.
