Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani has admitted that he could hardly sleep after his failure to score from a golden chance against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the 20-year-old also praised his teammates for helping him feel better after the error in the Nerazzurri’s Champions League 3-3 draw.

Asllani found himself through on goal late on against Barcelona, having the chance to either shoot or square the ball, but he seemed to be caught in two minds.

The Albanian shot weakly at Blaugranas keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, seeing a golden chance to win the match and thereby reach the Champions League knockouts with two matches to spare pass.

However, the Nerazzurri did manage to reach the knockouts with a win over Viktoria Plzen yesterday evening, and as Asllani explained, he now feels relieved.

The 20-year-old was not happy with himself for the error, but his teammates never stopped supporting him.

“It was a very difficult group that we could have wrapped up at the Camp Nou through me, I didn’t get it right, but thankfully the team made today’s match look easy,” he said after beating Plzen.

“I couldn’t sleep after making that error,” Asllani continued, “but the guys did everything they could to cheer me up.”

“I’m sorry for it and I hope that I can make up for it soon,” he said.

“Let’s see if it happens again, whether I decide to pass or shoot,” the Albanian joked.
