Inter’s first round of contract talks with defender Milan Skriniar yesterday went very well and a new deal could be agreed in the imminent future.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 27-year-old made clear that he would like to stay at Inter, and the meeting next week could be the decisive one.

Inter’s talks with Skriniar and his representatives yesterday were just meant to get the lay of the land in negotiations over a contract extension.

However, the feeling that came from the talks was very positive.

Whilst there are still details to be worked out between the Nerazzurri and Skriniar and his representatives, particularly regarding wages, the club directors felt very positively about the talks.

Another meeting is scheduled for some time between Inter’s final Champions League group stage match against Bayern next week, and the subsequent Serie A clash with Juventus.

That meeting could already see the parties reach an agreement, or get very close to it.
