The loyalty to Inter shown by striker Romelu Lukaku in returning to the Nerazzurri after one season away at Chelsea could serve as an example to defender Milan Skriniar as he considers whether to extend his contract.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who suggest that the Slovakian could see what playing for the shirt means to Lukaku, and take inspiration to remain at the club.

Skriniar will have a number of factors to consider as he decides whether or not to agree an extension on the deal he has with Inter which currently expires at the end of June 2023.

One will obviously be money, as the 27-year-old could potentially stand to earn more at Paris Saint-Germain or another top European club if he decides to leave rather than signing a new deal.

Sporting goals will also be a factor for him to consider, as will whether or not he wishes to uproot his family and life from Milan or seek a new life elsewhere.

The question of whether the Slovakian wants to be loyal to Inter could also come up.

Skriniar has given a lot to Inter since joining from Sampdoria in the summer of 2017, whilst he has also received a lot in return.

In Lukaku’s case, the Belgian made the decision to leave for a massive offer at Chelsea after two seasons wearing a Nerazzurri shirt, but he quickly regretted it.

Lukaku pushed for a move back to Inter after only one season away, and Skriniar could see the 29-year-old’s experience and decide that it would be a mistake to leave at all.
