Former Inter defender Daniele Adani has praised current Nerazzurri left-back Federico Dimarco, suggesting that he is amongst the best in his position in Europe.
Dimarco has impressed at left wing-back for both club and country this season, cementing his place in Inter’s first team and catching the eye for the Italian national side in their UEFA Nations League campaign.
Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch stream, Bobo TV, yesterday, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, the ex-Brescia and Fiorentina defender offered his thoughts on Dimarco and felt that few could match him currently, whilst also praising his versatility.
“Dimarco has two roles, as a full-back and as a wing-back, but in reality he also does another, by covering in midfield,” Adani claimed.
“He knows how to cut inside, covering the danger area, and he knows how to attack from wide and from a narrow space.”
Inter have secured their passage into the knockout stages of the Champions League after coming second in a group containing Bayern Munich and Barcelona, and Adani felt that Dimarco was a more complete player in his position than Alphonso Davies of the former, and Jordi Alba of the latter.
“He can do what Jordi Alba does.
“At the San Siro on Wednesday, I focused on him, and I don’t see many stronger left-backs than him in Europe,” Adani continued.
“I have respect for (AC Milan’s) Theo, and Davies, but Dimarco’s performances are complete, as a player who matches his team in a three-man defence that requires the whole backline to be on it.
“He carries out the role perfectly.
“Height is not the most important factor when defending, marking is about attention and concentration rather than height,” he added.
