Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani could be in line for a starting berth during the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against Sampdoria this evening.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, coach Simone Inzaghi may use the fixture against the league’s bottom club to rest some players and afford fringe figures an opportunity to impress.
It is expected that one of Hakan Calhanoglu or Henrikh Mkhitaryan could sit the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza out, in view of upcoming games against Bayern Munich and Juventus.
This would allow Asllani to step in and earn a sixth league appearance since joining from Empoli in the summer.
Elsewhere, defender Stefan De Vrij may make his comeback from injury and start in place of Francesco Acerbi.
Striker Lautaro Martinez and centre-back Alessandro Bastoni are suspended for Wednesday’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich, and so Inzaghi will select them both.
Meanwhile, Matteo Darmian is likely to be picked at right-wing back over Denzel Dumfries, whilst Federico Dimarco will operate on the opposite flank in place of Robin Gosens.
