Stefan de Vrij is set to start at the heart of Inter’s defense in this evening’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who also report that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is yet to definitively make up his mind as to who starts on the flanks, and that Romelu Lukaku will start on the bench.

De Vrij did not start for Inter in Wednesday’s Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen, but he is set to replace Francesco Acerbi in the lineup against Sampdoria.

The Dutchman will start alongside Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar in the back three.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report that Inzaghi will have a choice to make between Federico Dimarco and Robin Gosens at left-wingback, and between Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian at right-wingback.

In attack, Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko are set to start, whilst Lukaku will be fit enough to start on the bench as he did against Plzen.
