Inter are optimistic that wing-back Denzel Dumfries has not suffered an injury despite being taken off during the 3-0 win over Sampdoria in Serie A yesterday.

The Netherlands international pulled up with a pain in his ankle during the warm up at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, but despite being deemed fit enough to play he suffered another knock in the second half and was taken off for Raoul Bellanova.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the early signs are promising however and it is not expected that Dumfries will be ruled out for any considerable length of time, following medical examinations.

Whilst there was initial apprehension over the condition of the former PSV Eindhoven star, it is thought that he will soon be back in action and could target next weekend’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

Dumfries has made 17 appearances for Inter in all competitions this season, scoring two goals.
