Inter have released an official club statement officially condemning the behaviour of some members of the Curva Nord ultras group at the San Siro during Saturday’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria.
The club made the statement in a press release, reported by FCInterNews, in which the incident where some Nord ultras forced other fans to leave the Curva Nord stand during the second half of the match is clearly and forthrightly condemned.
Scandalous scenes emerged during the second half of Inter’s Serie A win over Sampdoria on Saturday.
Members of the Nord ultras group decided to leave the stands in tribute to a prominent member, Vittoria Boiocchi, who had been shot dead earlier in the day.
However, the ultras did not just vacate the stands themselves, but also used violence and intimidation to make other matchgoing fans, including those with families, to also leave.
The club responded to the Nord’s actions, stating that “FC Internazionale Milano firmly condemns any episode of coercion that took place on Saturday evening at the second ring of the San Siro stadium.”
“Inter stands for brotherhood, inclusion and anti-discrimination, and expresses its total solidarity with those fans who were forced to give up what they care about most – love and passion for Inter.”
The statement continues that “The club – which works every year to strengthen the safety and surveillance apparatus inside the stadium – once again assures of its full collaboration with the police to ensure the protection of the rights of its fans.”
