Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has not completely given up hope that striker Romelu Lukaku could return for the Nerazzurri prior to the World Cup break.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri coach expects that there is still a chance of having the 29-year-old back for one of the team’s last couple matches before the break.

Lukaku will miss this evening’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, and also Sunday’s trip to Turin to face Juventus in Serie A due to a recurrence of his thigh injury.

However, it is not certain that the Belgian will require more than a few days on the sidelines to recover.

Should further tests determine that Lukaku is fit enough, the 29-year-old could return to training not long after Inter’s Serie A clash with the Bianconeri over the weekend.

In this case, there is a chance of having the striker available for Inter’s last two matches in Serie A before the break, at home to Bologna and then away to Atalanta.
