Inter could decide not to extend striker Romelu Lukaku’s loan from Chelsea at the end of the season if he continues to struggle with injury as he has been.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that it cannot be excluded that the Nerazzurri would send the 29-year-old back to the Premier League given his injury woes so far this season.

Lukaku has been out for much of the season so far with a thigh injury.

The hope had been that after his return to fitness from a thigh strain, the Belgian would be back to his very best in the matches before the World Cup break and for the rest of the campaign.

However, this is certainly not how it has proved to be.

Lukaku has picked up a recurrence of the injury, and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to get back to full fitness over the rest of the season.

If the issues continue to keep the 29-year-old off of the pitch, the Nerazzurri could decline to extend his loan deal.
