Inter will still have a lot to prove in their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich this evening despite the result not affecting the outcome of the group.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who characterize the match as an “exam” for the Nerazzurri to see how far they’ve progressed since the last time they met the Bavarians.
Inter’s previous meeting with Bayern came at a bad time for the Nerazzurri.
A woeful start to the season in Serie A raised many doubts about Inter, and the manner of a one-sided defeat at the hands of the German champions only deepened them.
However, in the ensuring weeks the Nerazzurri have roared back, qualifying for the Champions League knockouts with a game to spare after their heroics against Barcelona and currently on a four-match winning run in the league.
Now, Inter will face Bayern again, and they will do so coming from a much different run of form.
The Nerazzurri will be hoping that they can show that they are a comprehensively different team than the one who were easily beaten by Bayern last time around, and that they can be competitive with the German champions.
