Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will not return to Chelsea next summer when his current loan deal with the Nerazzurri runs out.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that one way or another the Blues have no intention of bringing the 29-year-old back and that Inter are ready to renegotiate to keep him at the club for next season.

Lukaku is only at Inter on loan for the time being, and the Belgian’s fitness issues over the start of the campaign have raised some doubts about whether the Nerazzurri will decide to keep him past the end of his current loan.

However, there has already been a strong informal agreement that the 29-year-old will stay at Inter past the end of the current season.

Moreover, recent meetings with representatives of Roc Nation have further pushed things in the direction of Lukaku remaining at Inter.

There will have to be talks regarding the terms of Lukaku staying at Inter, particularly regarding the player’s wages, but there is little doubt that he will stay past next summer.

In the meantime, Chelsea are ready to secure the signing of RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku next summer, further evidence that Lukaku is not in their plans for the attack.
