Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana feels that overall the team did not look outclassed against Bayern Munich despite losing 2-0 in their Champions League clash.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the Cameroonian praised the Nerazzurri’s performance despite the result, and also looked ahead to Sunday’s Serie A clash with Juventus with confidence.

Inter will always have expected that facing Bayern at the Allianz Arena was going to be a tough ask.

The 2-0 scoreline was the same one by which the German champions won in the reverse fixture at the San Siro.

However, there were a number of positive periods for the Nerazzurri, and for Onana’s part, he was happy with what he and his teammates showed.

Ultimately, the result was not important given the way the group was set up going into the match, and while the Nerazzurri will be disappointed not to take any points back to Milan, Onana still feels that they can hold their heads high.

“I think we put in a good performance,” he said of the match.

“We were facing a tricky match, we were unlucky and we caused some problems for an absolutely top-level opponent.”

“We missed the finishing touch with some of the chances we created,” Onana continued.

“I think we faced one of the best teams in the world tonight, we still had our say in the toughest group, I don’t think tonight there was much of a difference to be seen between them and us.”

Looking ahead to this weekend’s Serie A match against the Bianconeri, the 26-year-old said that “We’re used to playing frequently, we have a difficult game ahead of us.”

“It’s true that we only have a few days to prepare,” he added, “but we train to always give our best on the pitch so we’ll have our say on the pitch on Sunday as well.”
