Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani feels that the team have achieved something special by reaching the Champions League round of sixteen.

Speaking to InterTV after the team’s match against Bayern Munich yesterday, the 20-year-old also stressed how from now on the Nerazzurri’s matches in Serie A are virtually must-win.

Inter were not able to sign off for their group stage campaign with a result against Bayern, but this hardly undid the work that they had put in to reach the knockout rounds of Europe’s top competition for the second season in a row.

The Nerazzurri had not been fancied to make it this far given that they drew what’s considered to be the “group of death” with Bayern and Barcelona.

However, Inter grew into their group stage campaign and secured qualification for the round of sixteen.

Now, the Nerazzurri will have to take this spirit back to the league where they’ve given themselves a lot of work to do.

“Qualifying is a great feat that we were hoping to cap off with a victory here,” Asllani said of the clash with Bayern.

“Unfortunately the opposition was very strong and we were unable to find a goal, but we’re still satisfied.”

“We’ve been a tight-knit group in all our matches in the group, especially the two against Barcelona.”

“From tomorrow on we’ll work towards facing Juve, we know that we can’t afford to drop any more points in the league,” he continued.
