There may have been some doubts about whether Bayern Munich should have been awarded the corner from which their scored their opener against Inter yesterday evening.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who suggest that the ball may well have come off Bayern right-back Noussair Mazraoui rather than Nerazzurri defender Stefan de Vrij on the incident.

Inter conceded the first goal in a 2-0 Champions League defeat against Bayern from a corner.

Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard easily got the better of Nerazzurri striker Lautaro Martinez to win a header which he did well to place beyond the reach of goalkeeper Andre Onana.

However, it is not necessarily clear that the corner from which the goal resulted should have been awarded in the first place.

Bayern right-back Mazaroui carried the ball into the box at which point de Vrij made a challenge to stop him from shooting.

The referee awarded a corner as he felt that it had come off of the Inter defender last, although it looked as though it may instead have come off of Mazraoui as the final touch.
