Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is not likely to be fit in time to return for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Atalanta before the World Cup break.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 29-year-old isn’t likely to play for Inter again until the return of Serie A in January.

Lukaku missed out on yesterday evening’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich and will also be out for this weekend’s Serie A match against Juventus.

The Belgian is currently with national team doctors where he is having his condition assessed in view of when he will be able to return.

There is still some chance that the 29-year-old could return in time for the Nerazzurri’s matches against Bologna and Atalanta before the World Cup break, but this is not likely.

Lukaku will have his condition further assessed over the next few days and a definitive determination will be made as to whether he can be available for Inter before the break.
