Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano was not impressed by what he saw from Inter against Bayern on Tuesday.

Speaking on his Instagram account, as reported by FCInterNews, Cassano suggested that it is not a positive reflection of Italian football that the German team were able to win as easily as they did against the Nerazzurri.

Neither Inter nor Bayern played anything close to their strongest starting eleven in Tuesday’s match, in view of the fact that the result had no bearing on the final outcome of the group.

Inter showed flashes of being capable of competing with the Bavarians at times, especially early on in the match.

However, in the end it was a fairly comprehensive victory for the German champions, with the 2-0 margin of their victory not a bad reflection of the balance of play.

For Cassano, “Inter looked like they were already thinking of Juventus, but Bayern still won without getting out of first gear.”

“Regardless of how strong Bayern are, it looked like Inter were hardly playing,” he continued of the match.

“I didn’t enjoy watching it, it’s not good for Italian football.”
