Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti feels that Inter gave a good account of themselves against Bayern Munich considering the quality of their opposition.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Sconcerti praised the Nerazzurri and gave the view that they looked capable of scoring despite the fact that the match ended 2-0 in favour of the Germans.

Inter will not have any illusions about the quality of the opponent that they were facing when they travelled to Munich to face Bayern.

The Nerazzurri had already lost 2-0 to the Bavarians in the reverse fixture at the San Siro, and even in a match with little competitive significance and with both teams rotated significantly, a tough match was always likely.

So it proved, as the German champions once again secured a 2-0 win to make it eighteen points from eighteen in their Champions League group.

However, for his part, Sconcerti was still fairly impressed with what he saw from the Nerazzurri.

“Bayern at the moment are stronger and have more ways to unlock a match,” he said.

“Inter played a lot of backup players, they were virtually half a real Inter, and they still proved themselves,” he continued.

Sconcerti said that “I often got the sense from them that they’d have been able to score.”
