Francesco Acerbi remains the favourite to start at the heart of Inter’s back three in Sunday evening’s Serie A clash with Juventus.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 34-year-old is ahead of Stefan de Vrij to start in the middle of the defense alongside Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni.

Acerbi and de Vrij have both started a number of matches in the central spot in Inter’s backline since the former arrived on loan from Lazio on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has shown that he fully trusts Acerbi, with whom he worked for three seasons whilst in charge of the Biancocelesti.

According to the Gazzetta, the coach is once again leaning towards starting him against the Bianconeri.

The Gazzetta’s completed predicted eleven for the match is as follows:

Inter (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, Lautaro.
