Inter could meet a familiar figure from their recent past in the form of coach Antonio Conte if they are to draw Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League round of sixteen.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who also note the fact that striker Romelu Lukaku could come up against his parent club Chelsea.

Three of the six possible opponents that Inter could draw in the Champions League round of sixteen are English.

Manchester City would be the team the Nerazzurri most want to avoid among Premier League teams, and arguably the team they would most want to avoid in general alongside competition holders Real Madrid.

However, there could be an edge to a match with Tottenham given the connection with Conte.

The Nerazzurri would be aiming to prove to the coach that he made a mistake in leaving, and that they have grown into a real European-quality team in his absence.

Meanwhile, if the Nerazzurri are to draw Chelsea, then Lukaku in particular would be hungry to prove that despite his difficult season with the London-based club, he remains as formidable as ever and would be capable of punishing them.
