Italian media report that Inter’s Turkish international midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could begin contract extension talks in the New Year.

According to a report in today’s print edition of Rome based Corriere dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, Inter could start contract extension talks with Hakan Calhanoglu this coming spring.

“It would not be a surprise if next Spring we would see a start to the first discussions for his extension,” the Corriere dello Sport reported.

Before joining Inter, the Turkish international midfielder signed for AC Milan for a reported fee of €20 million in 2017, where he made 115 appearances in all competitions scoring 28 goals in the process.

In June 2021, Hakan Calhanoglu joined Inter on a free transfer and so far he has featured 63 times across all compeitions scoring 10 goals in the process.

The Inter midfielder, whose contract expires in the end of June 2024, has so far this season featured 17 times in all competitions and scoring two goals.

Juventus and Inter face off on Sunday at 20:45 CET at the Allianz Stadium in Turin in this season’s first Derby d’Italia.
