Inter’s Italian international wingback Federico Dimarco is the favourite to start over German international Robin Gosens for Sunday’s Serie A match at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus.

According to a report in today’s print edition of Milan based Gazzetta dello Sport as reported via FCInterNews, Federico Dimarco is tipped to start over Robin Gosens despite the German wingback looking to play in as many games as possible for his club before the FIFA World Cup international break.

“Dimarco will play ahead of Gosens. For the German, it will be one of the last times that he can play to secure a place in the German squad list for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“That is still possible, but his inconsistent play at the Inter doesn’t guarantee a ticket to the World Cup. His performance against Barcelona could have been the signal to his international manager to call him up,” said the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian international wingback is a product of Inter’s youth academy and has spent time out on loan at Ascoli, Empoli, Parma and Hellas Verona.

Dimarco returned to the Nerazzurri in July 2021 and in December 2021 he signed a contract extension which expires at the end of June 2026.

To date, Dimarco has featured 62 times across all competitions for the Nerazzurri scoring three goals in the process.

Before joining Inter, German international Robin Gosens signed for Atalanta for a reported fee of €1.17 million from Dutch side Heracles Almelo.

During his four year stint with La Dea, he featured 157 times across all competitions scoring 29 goals in the process.

Since moving to Inter in January 2022, the German wingback has featured 24 times across all competitions scoring twice, the first coming against AC Milan in last season’s return leg of the Coppa Italia.

His second goal came earlier this season away against Barcelona in a 3-3 thriller in the Champions League group stage at the Camp Nou.
