Brazilian legendary wingback Roberto Carlos believes that Inter’s Argentinian international striker Lautaro Martinez reminds him of former Juventus and AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi.
This according to an interview on today’s print edition of Milan based Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews where former Brazilian international highlights similarities between Lautaro Martinez and Filippo Inzaghi.
“Lautaro is a great center-forward. He reminds me of the Inter coach’s brother: Filippo Inzaghi. Their ability to find chances are very similar.
“They can spend the entire match in the shadows and pop up with a goal from nowhere,” the Brazilian FIFA World Cup winner stated.
Roberto Carlos also heaped praise on Italian international midfielder Nicolo Barella as well as Slovakian international defender Milan Skriniar for their performances this season whilst also discussing Federico Dimarco.
“Barella and Skriniar have already confirmed themselves at an international level. But is also very clear that it doesn’t matter if you have a good season or just a good game.
“You have to be consistent and dependable for a longer period of time,” the legendary former Real Madrid player continued.
“Dimarco is an upcoming talent. Again, the only thing that makes you a great player is consistency. We will see if he continue his good performances,” said Roberto Carlos.
The former Inter player gave his analysis on the upcoming Derby d’Italia on Sunday arguing that the Nerazzurri are slight favorites.
“It will be a tactical game because none of the teams can afford to make a mistake. Inter have to consolidate [their recent form] and Juventus have to boost their morale.
“For me, the Nerazzurri are slight favourites,” the former Brazil international continued.
The Brazilian went on to discuss his time at the Nerazzurri, and he expressed regret at not having spent more time at the club whom he joined in 1995 but was sold to Real Madrid after only one season in Milan.
“I admit that I would have liked more time in Italy and Inter. On the other hand, for how my career progressed, I think it was a moment of luck to have found another place to grow.
“Football is dynamic and things move very quickly,” concluded Roberto Carlos.
The former Brazilian international made 34 appearances scoring 7 goals for the Nerazzurri before joining Real Madrid in 1996.
