Frustrations over the delays to plans to rebuild the Stadio San Siro could lead to Inter and AC Milan abandoning the project and looking for a new site.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two clubs have not taken kindly to comments made by Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Scala, after he had suggested that delays to the project were the fault of Inter and Milan.

It is suggested that both clubs have made their positions clear and that if unnecessarily long delays or bureaucracy would get in the way of rebuilding the stadium, they would consider another location.

This includes a new ground built in Sesto San Giovanni, a commune close to Milan, and it has received the backing of the town’s mayor, Roberto Di Stefano.

Whilst it is only a potential option at this stage, it is believed to be under consideration should the San Siro plans be abandoned.
