Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will look to focus on the spine of his team to hurt Juventus in the Derby d’Italia, according to Italian media.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Lazio coach has identified the key areas to contain the Bianconeri at the Allianz Stadium, whilst also being able to get the most out of his attacking options.

This starts with his outside centre-backs, with Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij tasked with covering space out wide to allow wing-backs Denzel Dumfries and Federico Dimarco to push up and occupy Juventus wingers Filip Kostic and Juan Cuadrado, blocking off their attacking moves.

The focus will be on getting the ball out wide and attacking Juventus on the flanks, and so the centre of Inter’s team will be pivotal.

As a result, Inzaghi will look to Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu to unlock the space in the middle and find Dumfries and Dimarco, whilst also drawing Juventus into central areas.

Similarly, target man striker Edin Dzeko will be tasked with holding the ball up and playing out wide into dangerous areas, before meeting the returning crosses.
