Inter could find themselves reacquainted with former coach Antonio Conte in the Champions League, should they draw Tottenham Hotspur in the first knockout round.

The Nerazzurri finished second behind Bayern Munich in Group C to earn their place in the next round, where they will face one of the group winners, with Tottenham and Conte a potential opponent after their dramatic victory over Marseille last week.

Appearing on Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday, and as reported by FCInter1908.it, Italian journalist Stefano De Grandis suggested that it would be fate that would draw Inter and Conte together, after the coach led them to the Serie A title in 2021.

“It is tempting to think of a match between Inter and Tottenham, a match between Inter and their Scudetto-winning coach,” De Grandis claimed.

Meanwhile, the journalist also argued that Inter would look forward to being paired with Spurs as it would offer an easier route to the next round.

“I almost feel that this kind of meeting will happen, and it wouldn’t be bad either. If they draw Porto it’s better, but that aren’t many more enticing options.”

Inter will find out their Champions League fate tomorrow, and will face one of Benfica, Chelsea, Manchester City, Porto, Real Madrid, and Tottenham.
