Legendary former Inter, Lazio, and Atletico Madrid striker Christian Vieri feels that the Nerazzurri did have quite a few chances in their Serie A loss to Juventus over the weekend.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the former striker suggested that Inter’s profligacy in front of goal rather than an excellent defensive display by the Bianconeri was the reason that they failed to get on the scoresheet.

Inter did have some very promising situations in the final third in their clash with Juventus on Sunday, including some relatively clear-cut opportunities.

Lautaro Martinez and Denzel Dumfries in particular passed up good chances, whilst Edin Dzeko was unable to score from a header.

In the view of Vieri, there are certainly issues that the Nerazzurri have which must be addressed, but it would not be fair to say that Juventus had truly restricted their attack in Sunday’s match despite the scoreline.

“There’s one thing that I want to point out,” the former striker argued.

“Juve didn’t concede a goal, but not really by their own merits,” he continued.

“The real clean sheet is when you don’t allow your opponents to have a good chance on goal, whereas Inter missed five good chances in front of goal, it’s more luck than a real clean sheet.”

“For example, Dzeko’s header goes in nine times out of ten,” he continued. “Lautaro also had two great chances.”

“Still, the Nerazzurri have to wake up, because they’re conceding too many goals,” he added.

“The absence of Lukaku is impacting them greatly,” Vieri argued.
