Legendary former Inter striker Adriano can still remember his own heroics against Porto in the Champions League, after the Nerazzurri drew the same opposition for this season’s round of sixteen.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Brazilian looked back on his Champions League hattrick against the Portuguese, and backed this Inter team to go far in Europe.

Inter found out in yesterday’s round of sixteen draw that their opponent in the first knockout round of the Champions League will be Portuguese champions Porto.

The revelation evoked memories of the memorable hattrick of legendary former striker Adriano all the way back in 2005.

The Brazilian scored three times in a 3-1 win at the San Siro to get the team into the next round of the competition, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Portugal.

The Nerazzurri will now be hoping for something similar this time around.

Adriano looked back, “That match is a wonderful memory for me.”

He continued, “I think that this Nerazzurri have it in them to do well in Europe this season.”
