Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin believes that Inter’s biggest issue in their Serie A loss to Juventus on Sunday was in the fact that they failed to produce a reaction to falling behind.
Reacting to the match in a tweet, Biasin argued that while conceding a goal is something that can happen, the inability to get back in to the match was the real problem.
Inter’s concession of a goal on a counterattack from their own was certainly a sucker punch.
However, given that it happened relatively early on in the first half, it was certainly a setback that the team could have recovered from.
Inter did have the initiative for long periods as the Bianconeri dropped back a bit to defend their advantage and the Nerazzurri started to up the tempo to find an equalizer.
However, the Nerazzurri’s efforts looked like those of a confused team, and they could not find the telling moment to break through and haul themselves back into the match.
Biasin tweeted, “This defeat from Inter, frankly, is all on the shoulders of the players – wasteful in front of goal, unable to react after conceding the opener.”
“Going behind is something that can happen, but failing to get back into it is the real mortal sin,” he added.
Questa sconfitta dell’#Inter, francamente, è tutta sulle spalle dei giocatori: spreconi sotto porta, incapaci di reagire dopo lo svantaggio.
Andare sotto si può, smettere di ragionare, invece, è peccato mortale. #JuveInter
