Former Inter, Udinese, and Napoli midfielder Fausto Pizzi feels that Inter absolutely must win their next two Serie A matches before the World Cup break.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Pizzi gave the view that the Nerazzurri can no longer afford to slip up as they face the likes of Bologna and then Atalanta before the break.

Inter are currently fourteen points behind league leaders Napoli after the Partenopei got the job done against Empoli yesterday.

The Nerazzurri can reduce that gap to eleven with three points against Bologna, but even then this would already be enough of a deficit that the Serie A title will look like a distant dream.

Dropping points in either of the matches before the break could mean that Inter would find themselves so far behind when they return that they cannot even hope to capitalize on any slip-ups made by the teams ahead of them in the table.

“The next two matches are absolutely vital for Inter,” Pizzi argued, “they can’t afford to make any more slip-ups.”

Of the tactical issues at the Nerazzurri, he argued that “Inter don’t have any players who are good in one-on-one situations, and therefore very few chances created for Lautaro.”

“I expected more from Mkhitaryan,” he added.
