Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is at a real risk of missing out on the World Cup through his thigh injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the final decision about whether the 29-year-old will be on the plane with the Belgian national team squad will be taken shortly before the deadline on Sunday to name the squad.

Lukaku is an important player for the Belgian national team, and if he is fit for the tournament he will certainly be a part of the squad.

Should the Nerazzurri striker be able to participate in any of Belgium’s group stage matches, against Canada, Morocco, and Croatia, then he will be called up.

However, if it is deemed that the 29-year-old will not be able to recover from his thigh injury in time to at least play against Croatia on December 1, he will not be included in the squad.

Lukaku is part of the Red Devils’ provisional squad, but being continually assessed for his recovery timeline.

Belgium must submit their final squad for the tournament by Sunday, and this will be the deadline for a decision to be made about Lukaku.
