Italian journalist Luigi Garlando feels that Inter should be able to get the better of Porto in the Champions League round of sixteen.
Writing in his column in yesterday’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the journalist gave the view that the Nerazzurri should be able to progress from that round of sixteen tie given that they were able to do so against Barcelona.
Inter will not be taking anything for granted when they face Porto in February and March.
The Portuguese champions are a formidable team who have shown that they are able to punch above their weight, and have frequently been a thorn in the side of Italian teams in Europe in recent seasons.
Still, the Nerazzurri not only have superior quality to Porto on paper, but have also shown that they have the mentality and the approach to get the results they need from big European matches.
“Porto are as comfortable in this competition as though it’s their own living room,” Garlando writes.
“However, Inter have shown that they can handle Barcelona, so they should be able to do the same with a familiar face in the form of Sergio Conceicao.”
