The real test of whether Inter have recovered in form from their defeat against Juventus over the weekend will come when they face Atalanta this weekend.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who argue that the Nerazzurri can only get a real sense of where they are by facing a direct rival at the top end of the Serie A table.

Inter showed their quality and determination to thrash Bologna 6-1 yesterday evening, but in truth, the Nerazzurri’s ability in matches like this has never been in question.

Particularly at the San Siro, Inter have generally secured three points in emphatic style against teams from the bottom half of the Serie A table.

In matches against teams who are in and around them in the top spots, however, the Nerazzurri’s form makes for fairly grim reading.

Losses to all of Lazio, AC Milan, Udinese, Roma, and Juventus are the kinds of results that Inter must show they can put behind them, and the only way to do that will be to win against a team like Atalanta.
