Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin feels that Inter would be ready to extend striker Edin Dzeko’s contract if the Bosnian continues to prove himself with his performances on the pitch.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset earlier today, as reported by FCInterNews, Biasin reported that the Nerazzurri would be open to offering the 36-year-old a new deal, although not before the priority of extending Milan Skriniar’s deal is wrapped up.

Dzeko did not necessarily go into this season expected to start regularly for Inter.

The return of Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea meant that the former Roma, Manchester City, and Wolfsburg striker was broadly expected to be a backup for the Belgian.

However, the fact that Lukaku has spent the majority of the campaign out injured has means that Dzeko has had a big role to play, and the Bosnian has certainly been up to the task in terms of his goals and overall performances.

Biasin stated that “I can tell you that Inter have a lot to thank Dzeko for, even at his age he’s proven to have phenomenal consistency, workrate, he always seems to be on the spot.”

“Still, sometimes he looks a bit fatigued, which is normal at his age.”

As far as the possibility of an extension, Biasin said that “I think that as is normal with a player of his age, we’ll wait until January or February to see.”

“I don’t think that the club would have any problems with extending him,” he added.

“But first, they have to get the Skriniar contract out of the way.”
