Inter are working on a contract extension with Edin Dzeko and the striker is keen to extend his stay with the Nerazzurri, according to Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Sport Mediaset journalist revealed that Dzeko was the next player in line to receive an extension at the Nerazzurri, as he enters the final months of his existing deal, and Inter will focus on him after tying Milan Skriniar down to a new contract.

The former Manchester City and Wolfsburg striker is set to see his contract expire in June but is determined to stay with Inter, and Barzaghi revealed that 36-year-old Dzeko is likely to take a wage cut in order to sign on for another season at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“We have done some research in recent days, we have been talking about it for some time, there is the intention, with a small obstacle, to extend his current contract downwards,” Barzaghi said of Dzeko and Inter.

“There is the willingness from both parties to sit down at the table and think about an extension of their relationship.”

Dzeko joined Inter from fellow Serie A club Roma in 2021 and has made 69 appearances for the club, scoring 24 goals.
