Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana has said that the Nerazzurri played with character against Atalanta and praised the quality of his teammates, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the 3-2 victory against Atalanta on Sunday afternoon to Inter TV, via FCInternews, the Cameroonian goalkeeper spoke very positively after what was a hard-fought victory at the Gewiss Stadium.

He stressed that the team had showed character and determination to get the three points and climb further up the table.

“It’s the best way to end the year before the break, this victory is very important for us. We knew the difficulties of this match. I am happy for the team, we fought, showed character, determination, I am very proud.”

He was asked to comment on his own performance but he chose to focus entirely on the team rather than himself: “I don’t think about my performance but about the team’s victory. We are a team of eleven players, we have to keep fighting all together. That’s why we have to talk about the team’s performance.”

When pressed on his own reactions, he focused again on his teammates and praised their quality which makes his job easier.

“It’s a quality of the team, we have wonderful players. I saw that Dimarco was moving and I tried to serve him, for me it’s easy to play like that when I have teammates like that. The team counts.”

When asked in what area the team has grown the most, Andre Onana said: “We always played well, I think we deserved to win some games we didn’t win, but that’s football. We showed character and determination, I think now we are all playing and suffering together, that’s the most important thing.”
